MUBI is online cinema that features a hand-picked selection of the world's best films, from cult classics to contemporary art-house gems.

We asked a couple of questions to the local MUBI team so that they present you their great enterprise with their own words.

Who’s the team behind MUBI, how was the project born?

The project was born 7 years ago through MUBI’s Founder and CEO Efe Cakarel. As he was sitting in a cafe in Tokyo he wanted to watch In the Mood for Love, the critically acclaimed film by Wong Kar-wai, and he realized there was no place to watch it online—nor a platform on which to watch other great films for that matter. Founded in Palo Alto and presently headquartered in London, MUBI grew from a few employees to over 50 today, scattered all across the world. Today, the dream team boasts some of the best curators, engineers, marketers, designers, and editors all reunited under a common passion for great cinema.

How does it work, what is the service and price?

MUBI is online cinema that features a hand-picked selection of the world's best films, from cult classics to contemporary art-house gems. Every day we introduce our members to a new title and it’s available to watch for a whole month, which means there's always 30 curated films playing, for only $5 a month. Available in over 200 countries around the globe and on multiple devices, we are a community of over 7 million (and growing!) film lovers. Life is too short to spend hours searching for something to watch on Netflix or Amazon. We recommend the films that you need to see. The films that stay with you a lifetime.

What are some upcoming titles?

Soon we will be showing Miguel Gomes’s haunting Tabu, which recently won two prizes at the Berlinale, as well as Federico Fellini’s underappreciated The Clowns. We also have some great French films coming out such as You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet!, the penultimate film of legend Alain Resnais, as well as two sensual, unforgettable films by Claire Denis: Trouble Every Day and 35 Shots of Rum.

What would 5 recommendations of yours in SF?
