FREE NATIONAL PARKS DAYS

On certain days during the year, several National Parks are free. A good opportunity to visit and (re)discover many beautiful places.

As a matter of fact, some National Parks ask for a fee. But on these occasions, they are free. For those of us who have experienced the government shutdown in 2013, which lead to the shutdown of National Parks for several days, this free days have a really special meaning.

In 2013, there have been 13 ''Fee Free'' days including:

Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 21), National Park Week (April 22 – 26), Founders Day (August 25), National Public Lands Day (September 28), and Veterans Day Weekend (Nov. 9-11).

It should be the same days in 2014. Mark your calendar!

Do not hesitate to wander further on the numerous trails that follow the walking-path (which is BTW very convenient with strollers...

POINT REYES NATIONAL SEASHORE

Drive another 30mn North after Muir Woods and you will find Point Reyes National Park. While you are up there, take the opportunity to follow two LostinSF readers who spent two days in Point Reyes...
