CHEZ BERLUE

Chez Berlue has closed.

New French Gourmet Food & Wine Store on Union.

Julie and Diane, 2 young French women dreamt it, cooked it up and finally opened Chez Berlue in April.

We went there to discover the new French grocery in the city.

To start with, we loved the window and its sign. It is simple and kind of looks loke one of a Parisian Bistro.

And of course... we loved the products. Julie and Diane picked a selection of so Frenchy ones, the ones that you miss here if you grew up in France, the ones that ring some childhood bells for example. We loved everything from the candies and lollipops, cookies (Pepito! You don't know them already, you're going to love them.), to cooking oils, delicious chocolate powders, truffles and truffled preparations, piment d'espelette (that enhances so well Foie Gras. Btw, hurry up... Foie Gras is so close to become a forbidden treat), delicatessen , cheeses like most French people think they don't exist in th US, and much more.

And then, we saw the wine cellar. Gorgeous! We are not wine experts but we have some references. Let's say that the cellar is elegant, well designed, simple and modern, mixing tradition and modernity. The selection is highly appealing for the renowned names and regions that are offered as well as for the prices. And it is 100% French!

So now, just go and discover the place, enjoy, treat yourself and let your friends know about it.

Good job Julie and Diane!
